Ageing
Well Programme
The objectives of the Ageing Well Programme are:
- To enable older people to participate in activities, which
will contribute to their general well being and increase
their general level of health.
- Increase the expectation of good health in later life.
- Enable older people to take a lead role in improving and
maintaining their own health.
- Promoting effective models of "Healthy Ageing".
- Working in partnership with others in local "Health
Alliances".
- Advancing health promotion and preventative care for older
people as a key activity,
- Providing volunteering opportunities to people aged 50
and over who will be trained as Senior Health Mentors.
- Encouraging service providers to make dedicated provision
for older people so that they can participate in activities,
which will contribute to their general well being and general
level of health.

- Recruitment and training progrannne for volunteers to
act as Senior Health Mentors
- providing peer-to-peer support.
- Exercise classes.
- Guided walks.
- Cookery and nutrition courses.
- Relaxation techniques.
- Taster/activity days.
- Keep Warm Keep Well information days.
- Healthy lifestyles clinics.
