Age
Concern Shops
There are currently over 400 shops across the country that
are staffed by a paid Manager and Deputy Manager and also
volunteers. There are approximately 1500 volunteers who work
for our shops, each doing a valuable job which is rewarding
and challenging. Three of these shops are in County Durham
and are at Durham City, Chester-le-Street and Consett.
Money raised goes towards local and national needs. Our
shops sell:
donated items of clothing
bric a brac
jewellery
books and records
Some shops have information and advice relating to the work
of Age Concern.
Age Concern shop income relies on your generosity.
Please donate clothes and other items and take them to your
local Age Concern shop. Help us continue to do our important
work for the elderly in our communities.
You can fill a van sack with donated items which are regularly
distributed and collected in your area. Please contact shops@ace.org.uk
for details or click
here to view their website.
The kitemark scheme:
Age Concern England is one of the pioneers
for the Association of Charity Shops Kitemark scheme. The
scheme aims to:
- raise public awareness of bogus collections.
- indicate to donors and local authorities that the collection
is for a legitimate charity shop.
Volunteering in Age Concern shops:
If you would like to volunteer in an Age Concern shop, contact
your Regional Sales Manager or Retail Sales Support Assistant.
This information is available on the Age
Concern England Site.
